Look at this little piece of “clever” – the Abracadabra bookmark designed by Jung-Hyun Lee, Won-Sik Chae & Rhea Jeong. 


The bookmark contains an air-filled chamber, half of which is flattened by the weight of a book, therefore pushing a little air bubble into the exposed tab.  And then by squeezing the exposed tab, the air is pushed back into the other chamber lifting the page just enough for your finger to slip in.

No wonder it won the Red Dot Award for Best Design Concept.
