The Flickr Collection is a collection of original, handpicked Flickr photos that are hosted on Getty Images – an industry site dedicated to stock photography. The collection of images reflect the passion of a community of photographers worldwide, featuring uniquely personal images with an authenticity rarely found in stock images.
The coolest part is that from this photo library, users can create image clouds and browse other peoples clouds as part of a new initiative aimed to inspire and foster creativity. These clouds can and are of all types of subject matter. This is my cloud… a reflection of how I’m feeling today. Sort of like a vision board but interactive, prettier and more stimulating to make. And did I mention easy-as-pie… oh, how I do love pie! 🙂
I am all for originality and innovation but I’m calling it like I see it… and this is some Stupid Shit!
As if the Roomba wasn’t stupid enough, now there is a Muwi… basically a Roomba for your lawn.
The Muwi won the Bronze in the IDEA: Design Awards but come on… not only do you know this thing isn’t really going to work, but your neighbors will too when your lawn is all sorts of wonky. Besides, it might as well be screaming “steal me” because you know it is going to ganked by the neighborhood kids once you put it out on the lawn… unless you stand outside guarding it, which is also stupid.
The way I see it, it only has two redeeming qualities:
- It produces awesome grass patties that look like felted frisbees (which the designer suggests can be used to make a chair… huh?).
- It slightly resembles the coveted Clocky alarm clock.
Designed by Yong Hee Cho, Yuli Sung, Jee Won Lee and Seung Hee Son.
Four-top table in preppy, non-Chinese, Chinese food restaurant called Dragon Well on Chestnut Street in the Marina District of San Francisco.
Cute-as-a-button little girl… three years old to be exact… coloring with a crayon on a two-page coloring book that Dragon Well provided her to keep her grubby hands out of mischief entertained. Her dad is sitting next to her with another crayon and is pretending that he doesn’t understand how to color by holding the crayon all wrong, to her amusement. Then the little girl says…
Up Yours, Daddy!
This comment was completely innocent… she wasn’t telling her father off (that will come in 13 more years) but rather instructing him to “up” the crayon in a vertical direction so the exposed end could touch the paper. Don’t kids say the damnedest things?
Definition: The bits of food matter that fly onto your mirror while flossing your teeth.
Today, Bloomberg unveiled the New York Waterfalls Project! Over 35,000 gallons of water a minute is now roaring into the East River thanks to this latest public art installation. Check it out… tell me what you think!
I guess I spoke too soon…
This weekend is the 20th Annual International Contemporary Furniture Fair (ICFF) at the Javits Convention Center in NYC. If you go (which you should), check out designer, Reiko Kaneko who will be launching a new line of English fine bone china with real gold detailing. Sounds fancy, huh? Well it is but it really isn’t… her take on this fussy stuff is very playful with her gold lipstick marks and tea drips. Take a look at the detailing on the saucer. I’m into it.
If it takes three things to make a trend, then I think we are on to something with my third installment of I AM SPAM…
Janet Nelson is turning penis enhancement SPAM into something for the whole family… good, clean, cartoon fun.
And for the academics, there is SPAM is Poetry dedicated to turning authentic spam into prose. The About page says the site is “a collection of desperate cries for attention from the marketing gutter.”
I guess, I don’t believe in the Ferber Method. Do you?
